Irish Hotels introduce Savage Cutback after Budget.

Irish Hotels introduce Savage Cutback after Budget.
Ok so a lot of bad news came out of the recent budget. Increase taxes & cuts in Health, Education etc. Irish Hotel have followed the Minister for Finance lead & have introduced server cutbacks. Bad news? No good news. In a tough year so far Irish Hotels are cutting their prices even more. Hotels are very much in the supply demand game. Currently there are more rooms then customers. The Hotel business is one of the most competitive industries around. They are all trying to get your business. To do this they have no choice but to slash prices. Right now the customer is King & Queen. There has never been a better time to stay in an Irish Hotel.
As we think protesting outside the Dail will become more popular why not check out www.hotelsinone.ie great prices for Dublin Hotel. The Glashaus Hotel & the Tallaght Cross Hotel are currently offering 3 nights for the price of 2.

Dublin Hotels Better Deals Now Here!

Dublin Hotels Better Deals Now Here
Since the economic slow down has kick in the demand for Dublin Hotels has levelled off over the last number of months. With the market demand slowing, hotels in Dublin have now reduced
their accommodation rates in order to secure your business.
The five and four star market have reduced their rates to three star levels thus putting pressure on the 3 star hotels in the Dublin market to reduce their rates even further. Currently 3 star hotels are selling rooms in Dublin from as little as €69 per room per night!
All this bodes well for you the customer as you now have your pick of hotels at greatly reduced rates!

Hotel Deals in Ireland The Right Time To Take A Break!
With the current economic climate all sectors of the economy including the Hotel sector are feeling the pinch. With the over supply of hotel rooms and tightening of consumer spend it has never been a better time to take advantage of the many amazing hotel breaks that are now on offer.
From 5 Star to 2 Star the Irish hotel industry is responding to market forces by offering some spectacularly low hotel deals. Hotel are slashing their prices in order to capture as much business as they can in a weaking domestic home holiday market.
So my advice is to check out many of the hotel deals now available and getaway for that well deserved break.

R Is Not A Word It Is A Letter!
27.06.2008
R is not a word it is a letter
We are all hearing the R word in the last few days. What is the R word Recession? .
Let us call it what it really is. Recession
It is time to tell you more about me,
I was born in 1962 in Ireland. As I went through my life the 1960s I was told things where better in the 1960s then the 1950s. Then I was told things here better in the 1970s then the 1960. Looking back this was true. We took our 1st holiday (in a caravan) and loved it.
Which brings me to the dreaded 1980s?
What is it about the 1980s that scares people. I WAS THERE. It is not as simple to say world conditions were tough. The U.S boomed under Reagan economics & so did the U.K (some parts) Ireland was tough. By the way I was part of the 20% unemployed & I emigrated but don’t forget. 80% of people worked. People tried to start businesses but never got the chance or the capital. A lot of these people went abroad or gave up.
What is different now?
We now have 2 decades of success behind us; & we have a can do sprit that that is not going to go away overnight,
By the way the 1980s were not all that bad. Ask your BOSS

Irish Hotels Irish Food?
20.06.2008
Irish Hotels Irish Food?
I am straying away from Hotel talk a bit today. Currently there is a lot of talk these days about food miles. Buying your food locally is the new buzz work but how practical is this? I live near 2 major supermarket chains & I find it is very difficult to get Irish vegetables. Last week in one of these stores I could not find Irish carrots. Now I do like my food and also like produce from countries all around the world but if I want a carrot I want an Irish one and not one that has travelled half way around the world. As far as I know we still grow carrots in this country?
Famers Markets
It is great to see the growth of farmers markets around the country. I love going to them but only when they are done well. One of the things that does annoy me is when some markets charge excessive prices for local produce. Here is the way I see it. A farmer sells a bag of potatoes to a supermarket chain and gets €1. The supermarkets sell the potatoes to the customer for €3. The Farmer goes to the farmers market all sells the same bag of potatoes for €2. They get €1 more and the customer pays €1 less. Both are happy. I have seen some markets where the potatoes are more expensive then the Supermarket? I don’t know maybe this is an Irish thing.
Thankfully there are some great Farmers Markets out there that have the balance right. I have been at the Midleton Market in Co Cork a lot and the experience and the quality of food are a joy to behold. I have come across to a great blog and it shows the locations of Farmers Markets around the Country.
Check it out http://irishlinks.blogspot.com/2008/03/farmers-markets-and-artisan-food.html
Would you choose to take your Irish Hotel Break in a particular Hotel if they served mostly local food?? Let us know.

Can You Book A Hotel In Ireland Without A Credit Card?
17.06.2008
Can You Book A Hotel In Ireland Without A Credit Card?
The financial regulator released a survey yesterday showing that 61% of Irish people do not own a credit card. Are you part of this 61%?
These days it is very hard to travel without a credit card.
Flying
Ok Aer Lingus does take Laser but Ryainair does not. That means if you just use a Laser Card then the bonus of competition in the air does not benefit you. You have to use Aer Lingus. Other options? Ask a friend. Been there & we all know it is not ideal.
Prepaid Credit Card –
I used these a while back. The problem I found is if you topped up €100 and the item you purchased was €90 it was a complete pain to claim back the €10. All of the time I ended up paying €100 for the €90 item.
Irish Hotels
It is becoming impossible to book an Irish Hotel without a Credit or Laser Card. Online you cannot do it. Calling Hotels direct it is getting more difficult to book over the phone with a card & the price you are told is the price you pay.
You may have seen a great Irish Hotel Offer but needed a Credit Card. You maybe able to send a deposit by post but then again it is a bit of a pain.
Are you one of the majority without a credit card.? Does this restrict your choice? Is there another way? Maybe there is??

10 Ways To Get A Hotel Deal In Ireland
16.06.2008
Hotel Deal In Ireland
Having worked in hotels in Ireland for many years, the most frequent question I was asked by friends, family and customers was how do you get a hotel deal in Ireland? So I have decided to put together a top ten list of ways to get a hotel deal in Ireland.
- Book in Advance - If you know when you are looking to get away try an book as early as possible, similar to the airline industry, hotels yield their rates and increase their rates as their supply decreases.
- Flexible Travel Dates - If you are flexible with your dates and can travel during an off peak time (midweek) you will most likely get a very good hotel deal. Also follow tip 1.
- Inclusive Hotel Packages- Book an inclusive hotel package such as a 2BB1D (2 Nights Bed & Breakfast & 1 evening meal) you will get better value. If you book a bed & breakfast rate and then decide to have dinner at the hotel, you often will be given the A La Carte menu which is priced higher.
- Email Newsletters - Join hotel websites email newsletter alerts, by doing this you will be the first to hear about the latest offers. Many of these offers have limited availability so if you are first to know about it you should get a hotel deal.
- Enter Competitions - If you come across a hotel competition enter your details, if you don’t win the first prize you often get exclusive offers for simply entering your details.
- Friends & Family Programs - If you have family, friends or relatives that work in a hotel you should ask them does the hotel run a friends and family programs. This programs have low cost hotel offers exclusively for friends and family.
- Company Social Club- Check out with your companies sports and social club notice boards or intranet, many hotels send in exclusive hotel deals to companies.
- Text Alerts: Sign up to hotel websites text alert options, hear you will get notification about hotel deals usually once a month, just read the terms and conditions!
- Hotel Websites: Keep an eye on hotel websites as many of the hotel deals are published first on the Internet.
- Corporate Account- Check to see if your company has a corporate account with the hotel you are travelling to, they often have preferred rates for leisure breaks for companies employees even if they are not traveling on business.
Well I hope that these are helpful if you come across any others just let me know and I will add them to the list.
